Natalie Yang is a Level 10 gymnast training at San Mateo Gymnastics in Belmont, CA, under Armen Astoian and Oksana Bystrova. She will graduate from high school in 2018.  Natalie is looking for the opportunity to train and compete in a Division 1 gymnastics program.

In 2010, at age 9, Natalie began competing in Level 7 for Airborne Gymnastics Santa Clara, CA. In 2011, she qualified to represent Team Norcal at the National Judge's Cup and placed 1st on Beam and 2nd on Floor. At the Level 7 State Championships she again placed 1st on Beam and 2nd on Floor. Her State Championship Beam score was the highest across all age categories. In 2012, Natalie competed Level 8 and recorded a 1st place finish on each apparatus throughout the season.  At the Level 8 State Championships, Natalie earned 1st on Bars and 2nd on Beam. At the Regional Championships, Natalie earned 1st on Beam and 2nd on Vault.  In 2013, Natalie began her Level 9 season at the Lady Luck Invitational by winning the All-Around with the highest AA score for the entire meet.  At the State Championships, she won 1st place on both Beam and Floor and placed 2nd AA. At the Regional Championships, Natalie again won 1st place on Floor (with the highest event score across all age categories), won 2nd place on Beam, and earned a 4th place AA finish. In 2014, Natalie again earned a 4th place All Around finish at the Regional Championships.  At Western Championships, Natalie placed 4th and 5th respectively on Beam and Floor.

Natalie transitioned to San Mateo Gymnastics at the end of summer 2014, in anticipation of attending Aragon High School in San Mateo and competing as a Level 10 gymnast.  For almost one year, Natalie was not able to train skills or compete due to the failure of a medical device unrelated to gymnastics; however, during that time she continued to work out with her team every day.  By the fall of 2015, Natalie was fully medically cleared to return to gymnastics.  In 2016, Natalie placed 3rd on Beam at the Regional Championships. In 2017, Natalie excelled again on Beam placing 2nd at the State Championships.

She is currently a senior at Aragon High School, which was recently ranked by Newsweek as the 124th best high school in the country.  Aragon is perennially among the Top 10 public high schools in the very competitive San Francisco Bay Area/ Silicon Valley.  Natalie completed AP Calculus AB and AP English Composition her junior year.  As a senior, she will be enrolled in AP Calculus BC,  AP English Literature, AP Psychology, and AP Government/Honors Economics, in addition to Anatomy and Physiology.

Natalie lives in San Mateo, CA with her parents, younger sister, and younger brother. She regularly attends Central Peninsula Church. In her free time, Natalie enjoys playing with her dogs Toby and Dudley, baking, photography, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
